Edinburgh Day 2 Evening

We found it! And a college geology class did, too. No surprise in that, the surprise was the cliff we had to climb down to get to the outcrop. Hutton was smart to get there by boat. But we brought my camera today, which the iPad understands, so:

Look at them all, from Darby College, England, wandering around looking for what to our eyes is an obvious unconformity. The professor was happy to meet geologists from Colorado who travelled so far “just” to see these rocks. He used us as an example for his students to realize how important this spot is to the whole world.

Brian said today we got a great car, but since I didn’t drive, I can’t say. What do you think?

Yup! That is a Jaguar. Powerful. Wrong side of the road. Man car. 😉

But before we went to Siccar Point, we visited a castle. What was he doing there?

Taking pictures of wildflowers! We are enjoying ourselves completely. Good night.

Edinburgh Day 2 Morning

We took a ton of pictures in the city yesterday, but Brian’s camera takes pictures in a format that the iPad does not understand. We can’t share those with you. Believe me, the places were grand!

Today we go to Siccar Point, where James Hutton first proved his theories of an ancient Earth to his two best friends. We will rent a car and drive there. Hutton took a boat.

Edinburgh Scotland!

Taking a bus to our hotel. The Lufthansa flight over the Atlantic was comfortable but the travel day – 3 planes – was too long. We took a picture of their crane logo.

After we found our hotel and washed off the travel grime, we went for a walk!

Five hours later… Impressions!

Edinburgh is a fascinating city. Such a mix of architectural styles. Topography strongly influences the grandeur. We took photos but are too tired to put them in now. We will try again tomorrow.

No disappointment here. 🙂 Good night.

Traveling East

Days are strange in time when we go east in planes. Right now, we are at a Vino Volo in the Dulles Airport in Washington DC. But our most recent meal was breakfast in Denver! Soon, to a plane to Frankfurt, Germany arriving early morning.

Are all airports alike? Herds of color coded teenagers, lines, dodging people going too quickly while not running into those going slowly, kids crying with fatigue.

No pictures yet! We are headed to sleeping uncomfortably on a plane. 🙂
